Ashley Floréal is a Haitian-Canadian freelance illustrator and visual artist from Toronto.
It’s pronounced like the shampoo.
Her illustrations are characterised by a collision of dark surrealist and saccharine, whimsical worlds, drawing from afrocentric imagery, esoteric and religious themes, counterculture aesthetics and suburban nostalgia. Whether personal exploration, editorial commentary, or entertainment homage, the work often seeks to draw from the complex emotions at the intersection of oppression, identity, femininity, grief, rage and mortality.
