ASHLEY FLOREAL IS A HAITIAN-CANADIAN ILLUSTRATOR LIVING IN TORONTO, CANADA.
IT’S PRONOUNCED LIKE THE SHAMPOO.
Using art to speak without speaking and tell stories from perspectives lacking in her influences since the early 90s (professionally since 2014), her art embraces contradiction, juxtaposition, ugliness, and extremes of colour, theme and drama. The work functions as a ritual to transfigure pain and unique perspective into something tactile and universal in its references to horror, fashion, and culture to create worlds that are visceral to experience from whatever their perspective on the spectrum from dreamlike to nightmarish.
Alternatively, she also loves film, parapsychology, lyrical hip hop and generally weird stuff.
