ASHLEY FLOREAL IS A HAITIAN-CANADIAN ILLUSTRATOR LIVING IN TORONTO, CANADA.

IT’S PRONOUNCED LIKE THE SHAMPOO.

Ashley Floreal is a Black freelance illustrator living in Toronto, Canada. She uses art to work through difficult internal barriers and give physical shape to visceral abstract feelings - whether that means moulding them into something beautiful or allowing the raw and ugly to feature as they are. The work functions as a ritual, transfiguring a unique perspective lacking in the influences of her youth into something tactile and universal in its references to contemporary fiction and culture. A passion for horror, surrealism and radical filmmaking brings extremes of colour and juxtaposition of subject and theme, which can fall anywhere on the spectrum from dreamlike to nightmarish.

Alternatively, she also loves film, parapsychology, lyrical hip hop and generally weird stuff.
