ASHLEY FLOREAL IS A HAITIAN-CANADIAN ILLUSTRATOR LIVING IN TORONTO, CANADA. IT’S PRONOUNCED LIKE THE SHAMPOO.

Using art to speak without speaking and tell stories from perspectives lacking in her influences since the early 90s (professionally since 2014), her work embraces contradiction, juxtaposition,  ugliness and extremes of colour, theme and drama. The work functions as a ritual to transfigure pain and unique perspective into something tactile and universal in its references to horror, fashion, and culture, and to create worlds capable of inducing mystery, nostalgia, or the plain ol’ creeps on the page.

Alternatively, she also loves film, parapsychology, lyrical hip hop and generally weird stuff.
